FXUS64 KSHV 070818 AFDSHV Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Shreveport LA 318 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 ...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM... .SHORT TERM... (Monday through Tuesday) Issued at 258 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 After a very active week with multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, it is nice to have a more quiet week to forecast for. It will be a chilly morning to the day today with temperatures in the 30s and 40s across the region. Compared to Sunday, temperatures will rebound a little better today as skies begin to clear from northwest to southeast this morning. Highs will reach the lower to mid 60s across the region, which while it is slightly warmer than Sunday, these highs will still be around 10 degrees below seasonable normals. Another chilly night is expected tonight, with lows falling into the mid/upper 30s to around 40 degrees across the region under clear skies. Sunny conditions continue to prevail into Tuesday and highs will return to more seasonable normals as temperatures climb back into the lower 70s across the region by the afternoon. Winds will remain out of the northwest today, slowly transitioning to the southwest by Tuesday and should remain much lighter than what we saw this past week as well. /33/ && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday Night through Monday) Issued at 258 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 Upper-air pattern as we move into Tuesday night will feature northwest flow across our region with the trough associated with all the weather last week continues to lift through the northeast CONUS. At the same time, week high pressure will be in place across the southwest CONUS. At the surface, high pressure will remain in place with a cold front just to the north of our region, which at this time does not seem to impact us. A warming trend will continue as we move into the middle of the week as high pressure continues to slowly build in from the southwest. High temperatures on Wednesday return to the mid to upper 70s and then reach back into the lower 80s for the southern half of the forecast area on Thursday. A weak cold front will move through the region Thursday night, and temperatures will be a little cooler on Friday, with highs in the lower to mid 70s. This cold front should be dry and no precipitation is expected with its passing at this time. A secondary warming trend will commence as we head into the weekend as upper-level high pressure becomes stronger over the region. At this time, there is no precipitation in the forecast for the upcoming week. /33/ && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 153 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 Still dealing with MVFR VSBYs and IFR Ceilings where we continue to see patchy drizzle across portions of our air space in E TX into S AR and N LA. We are seeing a scattering out of these lower ceilings at the TYR and GGG vicinity and this may continue to include the LFK terminal as well. The scattering out of these lower ceilings should be the trend as we go through the day across our airspace from northwest to southeast. The drizzle will likely hang on through at least sunrise across mainly the eastern half of our airspace. Look for VFR conditions to return to all our airspace by early to late afternoon. 13 && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
