FXUS64 KSHV 070221 AFDSHV Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Shreveport LA 921 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 ...New UPDATE... .UPDATE... Issued at 911 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Radar this evening continues to advertise a corridor of patchy drizzle and some light rain working north to south across SW Arkansas and NW Louisiana. This should gradually shift east through the overnight period and work out of the region tomorrow AM. Given radar trends and local observation, elected to narrow in on the corridor of DZ/RA through the overnight, and showcase the eastward progression in the forecast. Aside from this, clouds should keep temperatures mild, even with the cooler air filtering in. Temperatures have been on track to this point, and look to continue. Aside from adjusting the PoP and WX presentation, no other changes were needed at this time. KNAPP && .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Monday Night) Issued at 114 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 A dreary and cooler day continues this evening, accompanied by occasional light drizzle with these low cloud decks. Luckily, the perpetual trough that has been over the Great Plains will finally begin to push eastward tonight. Western zones will be the first to see the sky after a long few days of rain, which will also allow for maximum radiational cooling overnight. As such, western zones will likely see low temps in the upper 30s, while cloud- covered areas will stay in the mid 40s overnight. Clouds will continue to push east through the day and clear entirely for the region by early afternoon. Winds will stay around 10 mph out of the northwest. Afternoon highs will only make it to the mid 60s, but will still allow for a beautiful afternoon on Monday. Skies will remain clear on Monday night, contributing to a cooler night for the Ark-La-Tx. Most of the region can expect lows in the vicinity of 40 degrees. There is a chance of some patchy frost developing in areas of SE Oklahoma and SW Arkansas if temperatures manage to get cool enough. /57/ && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday through next Saturday) Issued at 114 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Temperatures will be on the rebound beginning on Tuesday with the continued clear skies. Winds will shift from northwesterly to southerly behind the last of the upper-level trough on Wednesday. This wind shift will promote the movement of warmer, tropical air into the Four State Region and allow afternoon highs to gradually increase through the week. Some guidance is suggesting that a weak cold front will move through Thursday and briefly knock back the warming for Friday afternoon. However, the lack of deep moisture return through the beginning of the week and the general weakness of the potential front makes it seem like rain is unlikely to accompany the front. Although there is still plenty of time for the forecast to change before then. Afternoon highs will continue to climb after the brief cooldown, likely being in the 80s for next weekend. /57/ && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 858 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 For the 07/00z TAF period...A mix of MVFR/IFR conditions across the TAF sites. This is mostly due to low clouds along with drizzle that has reduced visibilities across portions of the region. Current thinking is that drizzle will remain overnight except at our East Texas sites. Clouds will start to diminish from west to east, with skc conditions returning areawide by the end of the TAF period. /20/ && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
