FXUS64 KSHV 041956 AFDSHV Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Shreveport LA 256 PM CDT Tue Aug 4 2026 ...New DISCUSSION... .KEY MESSAGES... Issued at 252 PM CDT Tue Aug 4 2026 - The next 48 hours will be the hottest days of the workweek before a gradual cooldown to near-normal summertime heat (mid-90s). - Chances of rain gradually return through the rest of the week into the weekend, mainly in the form of typical summer afternoon thunderstorms. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 252 PM CDT Tue Aug 4 2026 Yet another day ensues under the ridge with some deviations in its strength yielding just enough room for convection to start percolating across central Louisiana (and along I-49) this afternoon. This ridge, centered across the Desert Southwest with an axis of subsident air extending eastward across the southern Great Plains. As it does so, the fading strength of this axis will open certain spatiotemporal windows of opportunity for convection to blossom each afternoon for the rest of the week. Current persistence trends and high-resolution guidance also continue to suggest more efficient mixing and dewpoints in the mid-to-upper 60s that might preclude the area from heat advisory thresholds through the rest of the workweek. These drier conditions have also enhanced surface fuels for wildfire development, especially across East Texas. Travelers should remain cognizant of anything that could spark a fire, such as a dragging tow chain or a discarded cigarette. Long-range guidance suggests the next synoptic pattern change taking shape in the form of broad troughing as the Four State Region sits between ridging centered across the Desert Southwest and the Atlantic Ocean into the Southeast U.S. coastlines. This will enhance the diurnally-driven convective pattern across the area to yield WPC QPF values of 0.1 to 0.5 inch, mainly distributed along and east of I-49. A relatively dry pattern is expected as a result. /16/ && .AVIATION...
