Awaiting the "warmer" weather ahead for Monday afternoon. && .SHORT TERM... (Rest of today through Monday) Issued at 1140 AM CST Sun Feb 1 2026 After lingering flurries and snow showers this morning we have cleared out some and are getting some sun across the area. Highs this afternoon will be near the freezing mark and may get above freezing for southern areas. A short wave trough will dig out of the Upper Midwest this evening into the overnight. This will bring the return of the cloud cover and will also bring some flurries or a light snow shower through the overnight. If you get under a snow shower you could see up to a dusting but not enough snow to see any impacts. Weak southerly flow and cloud cover will keep overnight lows warmer than what we have been seeing with them in the mid teens to lower 20s, wind chills will still get as cold as 11. Short wave ridging then builds in Monday morning into the afternoon. This will bring some clearing and it will be warmer with highs returning to the 40s. && .LONG TERM... (Monday Night through next Sunday) Issued at 1140 AM CST Sun Feb 1 2026 Quiet weather continues into Monday night with lows in the mid 20s to around 30. A short wave will dig out of the northern Plains with a surface low developing over TN Tuesday morning. Warm air advection will start to amp up ahead of the short wave Tuesday morning into the afternoon and bring develop showers from west to east. The cold front will then start to sweep through during the evening pushing east into the overnight. Snow may mix in with the rain right along the cold front Tuesday evening into the early overnight but it will be minimal and no accumulation. Highs Tuesday will warm into the mid 40s to lower 50s but we cool back down for Wednesday with highs in the 30s to around 40. Dry with gradual warming into the end of the week as upper level ridging amplifies to our west. Highs will push back above 50 on Friday. A trough and surface low will track over the Great Lakes into the Northeast Friday into next weekend. This will cool things back into the 40s for the weekend but the precip and arctic air associated with this system are favored to stay north and east of us. && .AVIATION...
