FXUS64 KMOB 190009 AFDMOB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mobile AL 709 PM CDT Wed Mar 18 2026 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... Issued at 708 PM CDT Wed Mar 18 2026 - Temperatures are expected to warm by the end of this week and will remain above average through the weekend and into early next week. - No hazards are anticipated over the next 7 days. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 139 PM CDT Wed Mar 18 2026 Northwesterly flow aloft will continue through much of the period as our local area remains sandwiched between upper-level troughing over the eastern US and strong upper ridging over the western US. At the surface, high pressure currently centered overhead this afternoon, will eventually settle over the northern Gulf starting Friday. With the high in place, along with the dry northwesterly flow pattern aloft, no rain is expected through the remainder of the week and into the weekend. By early next week, some guidance suggests that a weak cold front may approach and pass across the area. Although the current forecast maintains dry conditions through next Wednesday, probabilistic guidance does suggest a modest increase in moisture values (20-30% chance of PWATs exceeding 1.2 inches) early next week. Therefore, I would not be surprised to see rain chances come up slightly over the next few forecast cycles for early next week if this solution does pan out. Otherwise, temperatures will quickly warm over the coming days. After highs in the 60s today and lows in the upper 30s to low 40s tonight, highs by the weekend will reach the low to mid 80s (upper 70s along the coast) and lows will only drop into the upper 50s to low 60s. A Low Risk of rip currents continues through the week and into the upcoming weekend. /96 && .AVIATION...
