Updated at 1241 PM CST Tue Feb 3 2026 - Temperatures gradually move above normal through the week. - Increased chances of rain showers beginning late Sunday and continuing into early next week. && .SHORT TERM... (This afternoon through Wednesday night) Issued at 1241 PM CST Tue Feb 3 2026 Satellite imagery continues to depict an upper-level trough spanning from the Great Lakes region down into the Southern Plains. Meanwhile, upper-level ridging is building over western portions of the CONUS. This morning's front has cleared west Texas and southeast New Mexico, and the breezy winds that came with it have gradually diminished. Lows drop into the 30s and upper 20s tonight as high pressure at the surface shifts further into the area (lows in the 40s will be common near the Rio Grande thanks in part to greater cloud cover). Highs tomorrow afternoon end up similar to today's, albeit a couple of degrees cooler as northeasterly winds (generally around 10-20 mph) redevelop. Most locations top out in the upper 50s and low 60s, which is right around normal for early February. By Wednesday night, winds begin to shift back to the south/southwest as high pressure moves across the region and to the southeast. Nevertheless, light winds and clear skies allow lows Thursday morning to drop into the 20s and low 30s across much of the area (once again, upper 30s and low 40s will be more prevalent around the Rio Grande). Sprang && .LONG TERM... (Thursday through Monday) Issued at 1241 PM CST Tue Feb 3 2026 The long term forecast shows a warm up occurring through the rest of this week and continuing into next week. Upper level ridging moves overhead by Thursday and will hold in place through the weekend. Each day, highs reach about 10 degrees above normal in the 60s to low 70s. With winds shifting more southerly and westerly, overnight lows also stay about 10 degrees above normal most mornings in the 30s and 40s. Long range guidance shows the pattern shifting late this weekend into early next week. The upper level ridge that will have kept us above normal moves eastward and a system moves in from the west.
