(Today and tonight) Issued at 211 AM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Any lingering wintry precipitation across the area will dissipate as a broad upper trough departs to the east. Lows this morning will fall below freezing for all but the southern Rolling Plains. As such, icy conditions may develop on untreated roadways. Use caution if traveling. Skies will clear overnight and all temperatures in the CWA should rise back above freezing by around 11AM. Light northerly winds in the wake of the trough will keep highs below normal despite the abundant sunshine, only reaching the 50s. Winds will switch to light southwesterlies later this evening and clear skies will persist into the overnight hours Monday. && .LONG TERM... Northerly upper flow will transition to the northwest by Tuesday as upper ridging begins to build across the West Coast. This upper ridge will amplify and progress slowly eastward through the week with the ridge axis moving over the Rockies by Thursday. Surface lee troughing will keep winds out of the southwest through Thursday which in turn will help warm highs to the low/upper 80s area wide Wednesday. A week cold front will push through the region Thursday as an upper disturbance moves from the central US/Canada border Wednesday to the Ohio River Valley Thursday. This will drop highs into the 70s Thursday before climbing into the 90s by the weekend as the upper ridge axis begins to approach the FA.
