(This evening through next Monday) Issued at 1213 PM CDT Tue Aug 4 2026 The dog days of summer are upon us and the weather pattern seems to have gotten the message as a persistent and somewhat stagnant weather pattern is expected to continue through the week. The area will remain sandwiched between a sprawling upper level ridge that continues to bake the southwestern U.S. and an upper level low centered over the southeastern U.S. The resulting weak gradient aloft will allow for daily, diurnally driven afternoon thunderstorms (20-40% chance). Any storms that develop will likely have little forward motion and will, instead, be propagated by outflow boundaries and the daily sea breeze. At the surface, weak high pressure over the central and eastern gulf will maintain light southerly winds through the weekend. Temperatures will remain near seasonal normals with afternoon highs climbing into the low to mid 90s each day with maximum heat indices ranging from 101-109. Jones && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1213 PM CDT Tue Aug 4 2026 VFR conditions will prevail through the taf period. A few showers and thunderstorms will develop through the afternoon (20-40%) along the inland advancing sea breeze. These will have little forward motion and will dissipate by 01Z. Weak high pressure over the northeastern gulf will maintain light southerly winds through the taf period. Jones && .MARINE...
