Issued at 1027 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 Cold advection processes will continue to bring widespread cloudiness for most of the day. Deeper moisture in the atmosphere will remain high until the trough axis clears the area this evening leaving room for some isolated showers across the southeast. As we go into the afternoon, the upstream low level thermal trough will begin to weaken and become less defined, and this will result in decreasing low cloud cover. We can still expect temperatures to be very cool behind the front as afternoon highs will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s./KP/ && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 304 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 The Next Week... Overall there's not a whole lot to talk about meteorologically beyond the sharp cool off for the next week or so. The cool temperatures are set to linger in the area until through the week, as cold air continues to advect in behind the front that pushed through late Saturday night. Steady northerly winds will prevail through mid week where we will see a brief but welcome surcease to brisk polar winds, in turn bringing a rebound to mid 70 highs Wednesday and Thursday. Unfortunately, there will be yet another front pushing across the American South Friday, the tail end of which will brush our eastern peripheries; catalyzing another bout of northerly winds. While we will be spared the brunt of the typical convective activity associated with this front, a chance for garden variety showers and thunderstorms east of I-55 can not be ruled out Friday. Another bout of cold air following behind this front will continue to suppress our temperatures below seasonal norms for the remained of the week. In general this week, expect highs to range in the mid 60s to low 70s, and lows in the 40s through Saturday. So be sure to keep your hoodies handy. Sunday will see temperatures rebound back into seasonal norms spurned by the resurgence of Gulf flow establishing itself across the region. Highs will range in the mid to high 70s with overnight lows bottoming out in the mid upper 50s./OAJ/ && .AVIATION...
