FXUS64 KHUN 242329 AFDHUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 629 PM CDT Fri Oct 24 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 252 PM CDT Fri Oct 24 2025 - Medium to high chances for rain and a few thunderstorms Sunday through Monday with marginal risk of excessive rainfall. - Low to medium chances for rain linger through mid-week. - Cooler temperatures arrive late next week. && .NEAR TERM... (Tonight) Issued at 252 PM CDT Fri Oct 24 2025 Surface high pressure layered from southern Quebec to the central Appalachians will slowly build more to the east over the weekend. A storm system developing over the southern Great Plains will head to the east, bringing an increase in clouds, and return rain chances to the area beginning Saturday night. Before then, despite a gradual clouds from the developing system will result in partly/mostly cloudy skies tonight. Lows tonight should cool into low/mid 40s with light winds. && .SHORT TERM... (Saturday through Sunday night) Issued at 252 PM CDT Fri Oct 24 2025 One more day of dry weather to close out the week, before the system to our west returns rain chances to the Tennessee Valley. Under increasing clouds, high temperatures should rise into the low/mid 70s, with SE winds of 5-10 mph. Showers from the approaching system should begin overspreading the area Saturday evening. Not as cool Sat night with lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Sunday looks to be a showery day, as the system moves across the Deep South. With more clouds and moderate to high rain chances (60-80% in the afternoon), cooler temperatures are forecast. Highs on Sunday will only warm into the low/mid 60s. High rain chances should continue Sun night, as the system moves across the area. Low temperatures should cool into the upper 50s to lower 60s. Somewhat higher levels of instability could bring isolated to scattered elevated thunderstorms embedded within more widespread showers. Rainfall amounts into the night if heavy could result in ponding of water in low spots, as well as a non- zero chance of flooding. This region remains in a Marginal Risk (1/4) for excessive rainfall producing runoff Sunday. && .LONG TERM... (Monday through Thursday) Issued at 1014 PM CDT Thu Oct 23 2025 Long term guidance tends to diverge pretty significantly as we get into next week regarding the evolution of an upper low/troughing over the eastern US. This will ultimately lead to cooler temperatures toward the end of the week, but rain chances remain a bit more uncertain due to disagreements on where the better forcing/moisture will line up. For now, we will keep low to medium rain and thunder chances in through Thursday, with the best chances Tuesday into Wednesday. The good news is that there is no strong signal for severe weather or flooding at this time. Highs will generally reach the 60s each afternoon with lows cooling throughout the week, beginning in the 50s but cooling to the 40s toward the later half of the week. It is still pretty early, but signs are pointing to cooler temperatures as we approach Halloween, so be on the lookout for future forecast updates when planning for outdoor activities. && .AVIATION...
