FXUS64 KHGX 070501 AFDHGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 1201 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 ...New AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Monday Night) Issued at 201 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Main story this short term period is the chilly weather expected as breezy northwesterly winds usher in cooler than normal temperatures. Highs this afternoon are struggling to rise out of the 50s north of I-10 thanks to CAA and overcast skies. Skies are beginning to clear out along and south of I-10, so temperatures there will be getting into the low 60s. Clouds will continue to scatter out through tonight leading to a mostly sunny day to start the work week. Overnight low temperatures tonight will be in the mid to upper 30s north and west of the Houston Metro, and then 40s for the Metro and areas to the south and east. Sunnier skies on Monday will lead to high temperatures rising into the mid 60s for most of the area, with low temperatures Monday night similar to tonight but add a couple degrees. Fowler && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday through next Saturday) Issued at 201 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Despite the amplified and progressive nature of the long term flow pattern, the weather across SE TX is expected to be relatively tranquil and uneventful during the long term. Temperature wise, the long term is expected to begin cooler than normal on Tuesday, with highs in the low/mid 70s and lows in the mid 40s to low 50s. But a warming trend will bring most areas into the 80s for highs by Thursday. Temps could trend a little cooler on Friday, before warming back up over the weekend. Humidity remains relatively low for Deep South / Gulf Coast standards. The highest dew points in our grids occur on Thursday and only reach the low/mid 60s. So overall, generally pleasant. Enjoy!
