FXUS64 KFWD 070720 AFDFWD Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Fort Worth TX 220 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 ...New Long Term... .KEY MESSAGES... - Freezing temperatures are expected west of I-35 tonight with widespread frost areawide. - This work week will be sunny and dry, with afternoon highs warming into the 70s and 80s. && .SHORT TERM... /Issued 1105 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025/ /Overnight through Tuesday/ Clouds continue to clear from west to east tonight as drier air filters southward through the Southern Plains. Light winds and clear skies will allow temperatures to drop to or just below freezing across parts of the region, especially west of I-35. Areas of frost will also be likely during the early morning hours. The cold will be short lived though as sunny skies and light north winds allow temperatures to rebound into the mid 60s on Monday. Low level winds will become southerly Monday night and overnight lows will be 5-10 degrees warmer with no freezing concerns. Southerly winds will increase to 10 to 15 mph on Tuesday with sunny skies continuing and temperatures climbing back into the low to mid 70s which is near normal for this time of year. Dunn && .LONG TERM... /NEW/ /Wednesday and Beyond/ Dry, sunny, and pleasant spring weather will continue through the end of the week as mid-level ridging remains anchored over the Desert Southwest and a dry airmass remains settled over North and Central Texas. Breezy, south-southwesterly surface winds will nudge temperatures into the upper 70s to mid 80s across much of the region Wednesday afternoon. A shortwave trough will dive south toward the lower Mississippi River Valley region dragging a cold front through North and Central Texas in the late Thursday to early Friday timeframe. The better lift and moisture will remain east and northeast of our forecast area, so the forecast will remain dry at this moment. However, do expect temperatures to drop a few degrees Friday as north winds prevail through the afternoon. A couple days of breezy south winds over the weekend and greater quality moisture return will likely introduce at least low rain chances back into the forecast by the Monday-Tuesday timeframe next week when current model guidance suggests the next frontal system will approach North Texas. Temperatures will likely peak Sunday afternoon in the mid 80s to low 90s as ridging aloft builds directly overhead the Southern Plains. Langfeld && .AVIATION... /Issued 1105 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025/ /6Z TAFs/ VFR will prevail through the period with north winds 5 to 10 kt becoming southerly Monday night.
