Updated at 1028 PM CDT FRI MAR 20 2026 - Well above-average temperatures are expected through the weekend and again late next week. - Dry conditions will continue, with little to no rainfall forecast over the next seven days. && .DISCUSSION... (Saturday through next Friday) Issued at 1028 PM CDT FRI MAR 20 2026 Upper-level ridging is currently present over the southwestern United States, with Alabama currently in a period of northwest flow aloft. This will last for several more days, with passing shortwaves Saturday night and Monday morning cooling high temperatures back into the 70s Monday through Wednesday across the northern half of the state. A third shortwave Tuesday night currently looks to bring a slight chance of rain to northern and eastern Central Alabama. Mid- level ridging over the Gulf mid-week will promote continued by-and- large dry conditions across the area through the next week. This will result in highs reaching the mid 80s by Thursday. 12 && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 616 PM CDT FRI MAR 20 2026 VFR conditions are expected over the period, with light W to SW winds and passing high clouds. 12 && .FIRE WEATHER... MinRH values will remain highly variable through the weekend, as conditions are expected to remain hot and dry. Because of that, afternoon mixing may be more than expected, lowering the forecast values. In general, MinRH values should be 30-45% Saturday and 30- 40% Sunday, with similar values Monday and Tuesday. Given the warming trend, and the lack of forecast rainfall, fire weather concerns may start to increase by the middle of next week. && .CLIMATE...
