Issued at 1258 PM CDT Wed Mar 18 2026 A significant warming trend will begin today and continue through the weekend with fairly persistent south to southwest winds across the middle Mississippi and lower Ohio valleys. After near seasonal values today, readings will be 15 to 20 degrees above normal Saturday, and around 20+ degrees above normal Sunday in the lower to middle 80s. There will be occasional increases in clouds due to some weak perturbations in the upper flow, but overall there will be quite a bit of sunshine each day through Sunday. Models bring a cold front through our region late Sunday into Sunday night. The model blend now produces 15-20% chances of light showers/sprinkles late Sunday night across mainly southwest Indiana, adjacent portions of southeast Illinois and northwest Kentucky. Due to lacking moisture, rainfall amounts will be a trace to a couple of hundredths at best. More significantly, high temperatures Monday will be 20 to 25 degrees cooler than Sunday. Temperatures behind the front will be around 5 degrees below normal Monday into Monday night. Another warming trend will begin Tuesday, as winds gradually shift to the east then south Tuesday into Wednesday.
