- Fog is expected both tonight and Saturday night, especially across

  central and southwest Nebraska. Dense fog is possible. 



- Scattered showers are expected Sunday night through Monday

  night as a cold front crosses the area. 



- Cooler temperatures with gusty northwest winds can then be

  expected Tuesday and Wednesday behind the front.

Upper level low pressure will move eastward from Colorado and cross 

the southern plains today into tonight. This will spread a veil of 

mid and high level cloudiness across portions of southwest into 

central Nebraska. The clouds will have an impact on temperatures, 

with highs topping out in the upper 50s across the cloudier areas of 

central and southwest Nebraska. Full sunshine is expected across 

northern and western parts of the area, with highs reaching the mid 

and possibly upper 60s in these areas. Winds today will be light as 

they gradually shift to the south-southeast as leeward troughing 

begins to develop across the western high plains. The south to 

southeast low-level flow will help to draw moisture/humidity 

northward into the area. This will lead to the development of patchy 

to areas of fog across central into southwest Nebraska later tonight 

and lasting into Saturday morning. Will have to monitor for the 

potential for dense fog, with short-term model guidance suggesting 

visibility could drop below 1/4 of a mile. Low cloudiness will 

likely linger through much of the day Saturday, especially along and 

southeast of an O'Neill to North Platte line. Again this will impact 

highs, with cloudy areas struggling into the upper 50s. Meanwhile, 

northwest Nebraska, will again see near full sunshine and highs 

reaching the lower 70s. As low-level moisture/humidity continues to 

increase, fog will once again develop Saturday night especially 

across central and southwest Nebraska. Again dense - Fog potential 

Friday night into Saturday



A mainly cloudy day is expected across most of the area Sunday after 

the morning fog. Surface low pressure will deepen though the day 

across South Dakota, as a broad upper trough approaches the central 

and northern plains from the west.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...

The system slated for Sunday night into early next week continues to 

look less impressive. A broad upper trough will sweep from the 

northern Rockies and cross the central and northern plains Sunday 

night through Monday night. Low-level moisture will be in place with 

surface dew points in the upper 40s ahead of a cold front that will 

be moving into western Nebraska by Monday morning. At least 

scattered showers are still expected Sunday night through Monday 

night. Broad scale lift increases as jet dynamics associated with 

the upper trough pivot eastward across the area. 



As mentioned a cold front will move into western Nebraska Monday 

morning. This front will then sweep eastward across the area Monday 

night. Cooler conditions with highs in the upper 40s and 50s can be 

expected behind the front both Tuesday and Wednesday. Gusty 

northwest winds can also be expected both days.

central Nebraska through the day today. Lower ceilings will

spread across southwest and central Nebraska tonight. Areas of

fog are also expected across this area. Winds through the period
