Issued at 125 AM CDT Mon Sep 21 2026



Dry weather along with near normal temperatures will prevail for 

today through Wednesday as surface high pressure influences the 

region. Meanwhile deeper moisture will begin to stream northward 

from the Texas panhandle into western Kansas for Wednesday into 

Thursday as upper trough over over the western states migrates 

slowly east. Scattered to numerous showers/storms are expected to 

develop and stream north over western Kansas Wednesday-Thursday. 

Some of this activity will gradually spread eastward towards central 

Kansas on Thursday and especially for Thursday night into Friday 

with models showing upper wave pivoting east. Severe weather chances 

look low this period with limited instability and weak wind shear 

anticipated. Models show the main upper level wave eventually 

ejecting from the Rockies out into the central plains for Friday 

night into Saturday. As a result, the weather pattern will remain 

unsettled with shower/storm chances continuing into Saturday across 

central/eastern Kansas.

Low clouds in MVFR category will continue to linger over the

area through the morning hours then cigs should gradully rise by

late morning into the afternoon. Broken low clouds above MVFR 

could linger over the area today, but lower cigs could return

again late tonight across the area.
