Issued at 301 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Satellite imagery shows mainly clear skies this afternoon, with just a few cirrus clouds moving north to south across the area. Expect afternoon temperatures to reach the mid-50s to low 60s. Winds will be around 5-10mph out of the west, resulting in pleasant conditions. Monday morning will be a bit chilly heading out the door, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s. A ridge will be in place over the western CONUS during the day, with northwesterly flow setting up over the Great Plains on Monday and Tuesday. Monday highs will be in the 50s and 60s. Tuesday will be much warmer, with highs returning to the 70s. A mid-level trough will slip across Nebraska on Tuesday, bringing a small chance (15-20%) for a few showers to areas mainly along and north of Interstate 80. The warmer temperatures will stick around on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs reaching the 70s both days. A few 80s may not be out of the question in the southwestern portion of the CWA. With the warmer temperatures will also come the potential for some elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions Tuesday through Thursday. Tuesday, the main area of concern for elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions will be along and west of a line from Cozad to Holdrege to Smith Center. Relative humidity values will be around 20- 25%, co-located with an area of winds gusting to around 20-25 MPH. Similar conditions (20-25% RH/20-25 MPH wind gusts) are expected for areas along and west of a line from Cozad to Axtell to Lebanon on Wednesday afternoon. Another weak disturbance will move through the area on Wednesday afternoon, bringing a very small (10-20% chance) of an isolated shower Wednesday night. Thursday, the area remains under northwest flow, with a ridge over the western CONUS. Temperatures will be slightly cooler, ranging from the mid-60s in the north to the upper 60s in north central Kansas. Elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions will be possible for areas along and west of a line from Kearney to Hebron. Friday into Saturday, the ridge shifts east, starting a warming trend. Friday highs will return to the 70s for many. Highs over the weekend will be primarily in the 70s and 80s. && .AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z TUESDAY/... Issued at 622 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 For KGRI/KEAR Airports: Winds will become light and variable around sunset, continuing into the overnight hours. A cold front will move into the area before sunrise, with winds increasing and becoming northerly behind the cold front. Gusts of 15-20kts are possible behind the frontal passage, with gusts and wind steadily decreasing during the late morning/afternoon. There is a low (20%) chance for low MVFR/high IFR stratus to develop as the front moves through. Models have low confidence in stratus developing over the TAF sites (higher NW of sites) as well as high uncertainty on how widespread cloud coverage will be (FEW vs SCT VS BKN) if it does develop. Have opted to indicate this potential for stratus with a FEW010 group. && .GID WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... NE...None. KS...None. && $$ DISCUSSION...Wekesser AVIATION...Davis
