FXUS63 KDDC 070505 AFDDDC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Dodge City KS 1205 AM CDT Mon Apr 7 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Quiet weather tonight with slightly warmer lows - Warm and generally quiet business week - Very warm to even hot next weekend && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 222 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 202 A quiet weather night is expected across the FA tonight. The sky should be mainly clear, perhaps except some light drifting high clouds later tonight. Winds will be light for Kansas standards through the rest of the evening into tomorrow. We should see slightly warmer lows tonight with values bottoming out in the mid to upper 20s west to around freezing east. Monday, we will see some very weak low level WAA occur. This will result in a moderation of temperatures with highs peaking in the mid to upper 60s range. Afternoon relative humidities look to bottom out in the 15% to 25% range. A weak surface pressure gradient is expected and the resultant weaker winds should help to mitigate any higher danger fire weather threat. No major weather systems are expected to pass by, resulting in pops continuing at 0%. Lows above freezing looks likely for Tuesday morning. Tuesday, the high plains lee trough will deepen. This will result in downsloping winds and strengthening WAA across the FA. Resultant warmer highs are expected with values in the mid to upper 70s. Moisture advection with higher dewpoints being advecting in from the south might help to help mitigate the fire danger potential. Despite this, winds will also become breezy southerly as the lee trough deepens. With the southerly winds, even warmer lows - 40s - looks likely for Wednesday morning. A weak front will move across the state Wednesday, no real significant impacts from this other then perhaps a very slight "cool down" and a wind shift. The dry but pleasant weather will continue Thursday and Friday as well. For the weekend, a mid level ridge will spread out across the Great Plains. This will result in the warmest days with highs well into the 80s. There is increasing spread though in how warm it will get in the ensemble spread from both the GEFS and EPS.
