FXUS62 KMFL 241126 AFDMFL Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Miami FL 726 AM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 722 AM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025 - Hazardous marine and beach conditions will continue into the weekend as breezy to gusty winds prevail. - Generally dry conditions expected each day, outside of a few isolated showers. Rain chances increase late this weekend as low-level moisture returns. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Saturday) Issued at 207 AM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025 Satellite imagery and surface analysis early this morning show a weakening boundary gradually making its way southward across South Florida. The front is forecast to linger over the area through the short term period, with surface high building across the southeast US behind the front. The interaction between the two features will help enhance the pressure gradient along the peninsula, resulting in persistent breezy winds today and tomorrow, with sustained winds in the 15-20 kt range and gusts up to 25 kt possible. Drier air will continue to filter in as the front moves across the region today, as is evidenced by 00Z soundings and ACARS profiles along the peninsula. The drier air will inhibit much in the way of convective development today, with only a few isolated and brief showers possible near the Lake Okeechobee region. Temperatures will top out in the mid to upper 80s today and tomorrow, with lows in the mid 60s to mid 70s overnight. && .LONG TERM... (Saturday night through Thursday) Issued at 207 AM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025 High pressure will dominate the pattern through the weekend, maintain fresh, breezy northeasterly winds. Low-level moisture will gradually filter back over the region, especially over the Atlantic waters and East Coast, where isolated showers and a few thunderstorms could develop each afternoon. By early next week, the ridge of high pressure will begin to shift east as a cutoff low develops over central US and progresses across the Gulf states. This pattern will help draw deeper moisture back into our region, thus resulting in a potential uptick in shower chances through the first half of the week. Late in the period, a stronger cold front may approach the area, potentially ushering in a cooler and drier airmass by late week. Confidence in the timing and strength of this feature remains low, but trends will be monitored for any potential changes. Highs this weekend will continue to reach the upper 80s each afternoon, with overnight lows in the mid 60s across the interior and mid 70s along the East Coast. We could see a slight cool down early next week, with highs in the low-mid 80s each day and overnight lows in the 60s. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 730 AM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025 VFR conditions expected to prevail through the next 24 hours at all terminals. Breezy and gusty northeasterly winds will continue with gusts in the 25-28 kt range today, and remaining gusty tonight, especially over the Atlantic terminals. && .MARINE... Issued at 207 AM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025 Hazardous marine conditions will persist across all local waters through the weekend as the pressure gradient over the area tightens, promoting fresh to strong breezy northeasterly winds. Seas will gradually build up to 6-8 ft range today, and could continue to build over the weekend as the strong breeze is forecast to persist across the local waters. Small Craft Advisories remain in effect for all local waters. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms could develop across the Atlantic waters each afternoon. && .BEACHES... Issued at 207 AM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025 Strong onshore flow will promote a high risk of rip currents across the Atlantic coastline through the weekend. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
