FXUS62 KMFL 110521 AFDMFL Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Miami FL 1221 AM EST Thu Dec 11 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 1216 AM EST Thu Dec 11 2025 - Mostly dry and seasonable weather for the remainder of the week. - The risk of rip currents will remain high for the Palm Beaches today. && .UPDATE... Issued at 237 PM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 Abundant sunshine was the story earlier this morning as drier air moved in across the region. Satellite imagery now depicts a bubbling layer of cumulus across South Florida although conditions should remain partly cloudy to mostly sunny for the rest of the day. Per the 18Z MFL sounding, there is still enough low level moisture to support maybe a sprinkle or two across the area through the remainder of the day. No significant forecast changes with this update. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Thursday) Issued at 145 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 A weak frontal boundary remains stalled across the Florida Straits early this morning, with ample cloud coverage still associated with the front overspreading the CWA. Northerly winds behind the front have ushered much drier air over the region, which will help inhibit rainfall chances today, but the cloudy conditions will persist until the early afternoon. Conditions will gradually clear up, and temperatures will warm up a little compared to Tuesday, with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s. A reinforcing dry front is forecast to sweep south across the area late tonight into Thursday, finally pushing the stationary front over the FL Straits south, and driving another surge of dry air across the region. Temperatures will also drop as a result, with lows tonight dropping to the low 50s over the interior and the low 60s over the East Coast, and further down on Thursday night to the low-mid 40s across the interior and mid-upper 50s across the East Coast. && .LONG TERM... (Thursday night through Tuesday) Issued at 145 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 High pressure will build behind the aforementioned frontal passage late this week, keeping conditions dry and seasonable. Confidence in the forecast begins to decrease late in the weekend and into next week. Some ensemble members hint at a developing upper-level disturbance over the Gulf that could slide eastward over the peninsula, potentially injecting moisture along the column and leading to a slight uptick in rain chances. While uncertainty remains regarding timing and intensity, went with the prevailing NBM guidance for the end of the period, with PoPs in the 20-30% range. Expect a gradual warming trend through the weekend, with highs each day in the mid to upper 70s, gradually rising to the lower 80s; and lows in the mid 50s over the interior, and mid 60s along the coasts. && .AVIATION...
