FXUS62 KKEY 070234 AFDKEY Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Key West FL 1034 PM EDT Sun Apr 6 2025 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 939 PM EDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Winds continue to trend downwards this evening and are now moderate east to southeasterly. Winds will continue to slowly relax through the night. Meanwhile, amplified troughing pressing into the eastern United States and Gulf will displace eastward the mid to upper level ridge currently located across Florida and the Bahamas. Even so, deep layered ridging will cling to control of our area with precipitable water remaining near seasonal norms, limited CAPE, and weak inhibition. Expect overnight lows to range in the upper 70s with dew points broadly in the lower 70s. Rain chances, while not absolutely zero, will be quite slim. && .MARINE... Issued at 939 PM EDT Sun Apr 6 2025 An Atlantic surface pressure ridge stretches westward across South Florida and the Straits and well into the Gulf. After a quite prolonged period of strong east southeasterlies, breezes have relaxed. Advisories were lowered across all waters earlier this afternoon, however Cautions remain for Hawk Channel and the Straits. Essentially no changes made in the evening marine update. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 939 PM EDT Sun Apr 6 2025 VFR conditions will prevail at the island terminals overnight. Surface winds will be gentle to moderate out of the east southeast. && .KEY WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... FL...None.
