FXUS62 KFFC 190540 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 140 AM EDT Thu Mar 19 2026 ...New 06Z Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 130 AM EDT Thu Mar 19 2026 - A Frost Advisory is in effect for north and central Georgia overnight into early Thursday morning. - Temperatures will gradually increase each day this week, with temperatures 10-15 degrees above average this weekend. - Dry conditions will persist through the weekend, with any potential rain chances holding off until at least Monday. && .SHORT TERM... (This afternoon through Thursday) Issued at 225 PM EDT Wed Mar 18 2026 Current satellite loop shows a few mid to high level clouds streaming across the state around the backside of the low pressure system over the Mid-Atlantic states. Not expecting any rain as it is just too dry in the lower level to support any precip. Current RH levels are in the 20% to 30% range and things are expected to stay dry through the end of the week. Temps are still on the cool side today with highs only in the 50s and lows tonight dipping back down into the 30s. Not expecting temps to dip below the freezing mark tonight (except for the NE GA mountains) so will not be issuing another freeze warning. Have issued a frost advisory for the entire area as we will definitely see temps in the 33-36 deg range. Another weak dry clipper will traverse the area on Thursday within persistent northwest flow aloft. Again, the airmass will remain too dry for any precipitation. Temperatures will begin to return to near seasonal norms Thu with highs mainly in the 60s across the area. Lows Thu night will be about 10 deg warmer with lows in the 40s. && .LONG TERM... (Friday morning through next Tuesday) Issued at 225 PM EDT Wed Mar 18 2026 Knock on wood..but its shaping up to be a rather tranquil 7 day period for our region. Large ridge and heat wave over the southwest US will take the headlines leaving the eastern portion of the country in a dry NW flow. With no arctic air to surge in place temps should slowly rise into the weekend and peak in the 80s areawide by Sunday. One of the uncertainties with the NW flow will be IF any disturbances rotate around the ridge and slide southeast across the area. Some guidance hints at a few, one on sunday and another on Monday which will only serve to add low end pops to the forecast given the overall dry atms. NBM next best chance of rain with a more significant disturbance and cool front comes in on Monday...albeit 20 to 30 pops at best. Temps cool a bit with the front on Monday and Tuesday behind the front but still seasonable. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 130 AM EDT Thu Mar 19 2026 VFR conditions will persist with primarily only high or occasional midlevel clouds 10-25 kft. Winds will be near calm to light SE through 12Z before trending to SW by 12-14Z at speeds 3-6 kts. //ATL Confidence...06Z Update... High confidence. RW && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
