FXUS62 KFFC 040809 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 409 AM EDT Mon May 4 2026 ...Morning Area Forecast Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... - Shower and thunderstorm chances return mid week (Wednesday and Thursday). There is high uncertainty in the exact timing and intensity of any precipitation. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Tuesday) Issued at 219 AM EDT Mon May 4 2026 High pressure across the region will keep mostly clear skies over the state today with some increasing clouds Tuesday. The ridge is elongated with the axis angled from NE to SW across central GA. The main center of the ridge moves east through the day and slowly weakens its grip on the state through Tuesday afternoon. We will see increasing cloud cover from the NW ahead of the next system that will bring increased precip chances to the state in the extended periods. Dry conditions will continue with minimum Relative Humidity values slowly increasing in the short term. With the ridge slowly moving out the winds turn to the SW allowing Gulf moisture to slowly increase across the region. RH values will dip down into the lower 30s today but with the light SW winds a fire danger statement should not be needed. The RH values will still need to be monitored today as the RH values could get very close to critical thresholds (<30%). RH values Tues will dip down into the upper 30% to lower 40% range so not expecting any fire weather concerns. One big thing this ridge will do is allow temps to rebound to near and slightly above seasonal norms. Will see temps today mainly in he 70s to near 80 with highs Tuesday in the upper 70s to middle 80s. Low temps will get down into the 50s Tue morning. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday night through Sunday) Issued at 219 AM EDT Mon May 4 2026 Another front is expected on Wednesday and into Thursday. While this front is still a few days out, models are in good agreement that plenty of instability will build during the day on Wednesday. Temperatures will climb into the low to mid 80s with dewpoints in the low 60s. The GFS forecast soundings, as a result generate enough instability to warrant us keeping a close eye on the forecast as it evolves over the next few days. Temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s will cool falling the cold front Thursday into Friday. Highs will reach the 70s areawide and overnight lows in the 40s and low 50s. Rain chances may linger into the weekend. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 129 AM EDT Mon May 4 2026 Mostly clear skies with no precipitation or restrictions to VSBYs. Winds are light and variable this morning. Wind will increase out of the W to SW in the 5-10kt range this afternoon. Winds will diminish to 5kt or less after sunset. //ATL Confidence...06Z Update...
