FXUS62 KFFC 020633 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 133 AM EST Mon Feb 2 2026 ...New 06Z Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 129 AM EST Mon Feb 2 2026 - Areas with lingering snowfall are likely to see a refreeze tonight into Monday morning which will lead to the potential for patchy black ice. - Cold weather will linger for Monday morning with low temps in the low 20s and wind chills in the teens. - Temperatures warm back up to near normal early in the week, with rain chances returning mid week and another cool down to follow. && .SHORT TERM... (This afternoon through Monday) Issued at 229 PM EST Sun Feb 1 2026 Temps are on track to top out in the low to upper 30s across much of the area today with mostly sunny skies across the area. As the trough pushes eastward and a secondary shortwave pushes through the main flow, cloudy skies will be possible for tomorrow but no precipitation expected. Ridging pushes into the area which begins the slow warm up into the week. For tomorrow morning, temps will reach down into the upper teens to low 20s across the area with wind chills in the upper teens for most areas. Will stay just out of cold weather advisory criteria but do keep the cold weather tips in mind. Winds will begin to slacken into the overnight which should help with the wind chills. Any areas that still have snowfall on untreated roadways are likely to see a refreeze overnight leading to patchy black ice potential. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday morning through next Saturday) Issued at 229 PM EST Sun Feb 1 2026 At the start of the long term period on Tuesday, presiding surface high pressure will be in the process of being nudged offshore by a series of shortwaves rounding the base of a broader trough at the mid-levels (with a cold front in tow). As the front makes its way across the Southeast over the course of the day Tuesday into Wednesday, chances for showers will return for much of north and central Georgia. Rainfall totals remain on the low-end areawide, with most forecast to see just a quarter to a third of an inch. Behind the front, northwesterly flow sets up at the mid-levels, paving the way for mostly clear and dry conditions for the remainder of the extended. Highs will be in the mid-40s to 50s each day (coolest post-front on Thursday), with lows in the 20s to 30s (and in the 40s on Wednesday morning before the influence of the front is felt). && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 129 AM EST Mon Feb 2 2026 VFR conditions through the 06Z TAF period with SKC aside from a few passing high clouds (10-20kft or higher). NW winds continue to weaken overnight and will turn westerly Monday morning. Westerly winds pick back up to around 8-10kts by Monday afternoon, and then weaken to around 5 kts or less after 00Z Tuesday. //ATL Confidence...06Z Update... High confidence for all elements.
