FXUS61 KRLX 240415 AFDRLX AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION National Weather Service Charleston WV 1215 AM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025 .SYNOPSIS... Widespread frost and freeze conditions expected this morning. Quiet with high pressure over the weekend, then the weather pattern becomes more active again next week. && .NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... As of 1210 AM Friday... A Freeze Warning remains in effect for this morning for portions of the area where the growing season has not yet ended. An upper level low to our north will gradually pull away from the region today as surface high pressure builds in. Some clouds are possible from the upper level low across central Ohio and northern West Virginia. The high will provide for dry weather today and tonight with temperatures a bit below normal for this time of year. && .SHORT TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/... As of 200 PM Thursday... Friday night will be chilly, with lows likely falling back into the mid 20s to 30s and prompting additional frost/freeze conditions overnight into Saturday morning. Surface high pressure and zonal upper level flow should maintain quiet weather at least through the first half of the weekend, then forecast confidence starts to decrease as a low pressure system approaches from the west early next week. Have maintained drier central guidance through Sunday, though some models hint at the possibility of a few showers forming during the day. && .LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/... As of 200 PM Thursday... A more active pattern is expected to take hold, with potential for a couple of systems to cross the area next week; however, at this point, models do not agree on the timing or track of these systems. Given the uncertainty, a chance of precipitation has been carried throughout the long term forecast period. && .AVIATION /06Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... As of 1210 AM Friday... Some dense river valley fog is possible this morning, otherwise expect VFR conditions through the TAF period. FORECAST CONFIDENCE AND ALTERNATE SCENARIOS THROUGH 06Z SATURDAY... FORECAST CONFIDENCE: Low with fog, otherwise High. ALTERNATE SCENARIOS: River valley fog may or may not affect TAF locations this morning.
