Through 4 AM, scattered to numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue moving northeast to east at 10 to 15 knots across the SE Gulf waters, the eastern Straits of Florida, the nearshore waters surrounding the Island Chain, and the Island Chain, especially the Middle and Lower Keys. Mariners encountering the stronger activity across waters surrounding the Middle Keys should prepare for blinding heavy downpours, wind gusts of 25 to 30 knots, and frequent lightning. On land, island communities of the Middle Keys and Lower Keys east of Ramrod Key may pick up an additional quarter to half an inch of rainfall, with locally higher amounts up to 1 and a half inches in the heaviest activity. $$ AJP
