Showers remain expected for this afternoon over Yosemite NP with observed thunderstorms in Mono County this morning. Showers that continue to track into the park this afternoon have potential to cause cloud-to-ground lightning, small hail, gusty and erratic winds, and increased rainfall rates. Rates at times in the next 2-3 hours can approach 0.1 to 0.2 inches per hour. Snow levels largely above the spot elevation has a 90 percent chance for rain as precipitation type, but there is a 10 percent chance for snow. As showers move in over the next few hours, visibilities will remain at less than a half mile with ceilings less than 500 feet through 5 PM. Afterwards, ceilings improve to 2000 feet and visiblities improve above 3 miles. Both parameters reduce again after midnight. Surface winds are expected from the west around 5 mph this afternoon and evening with ridgetop winds also from the west around 10 to 15 mph. .REST OF TODAY...
