Winds increase today out of the south, with afternoon gusts 20 to 25 mph. Minimum humidity values above 30% should temper widespread concerns, especially with the lowest RH and strongest winds offset. Mostly dry conditions are expected through the weekend, with low (less than 15%) chances tonight south of I-90 and Saturday morning across southwestern MN. Stronger winds are expected this weekend, with gusts up to 35 mph (strongest Sunday). Increasing humidity to above 55% limits widespread and critical fire danger, but locally elevated fire danger is expected. More widespread rain chances are expected to return by Monday through Tuesday, although there remains uncertainty in exact timing and location. Mostly dry and breezy conditions expected mid to late next week. Any outdoor burning should be closely monitored. OUTLOOK FOR SATURDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the moderate category.
