FNUS63 KFSD 051928 RFDFSD Rangeland Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD 228 PM CDT Tue May 5 2026 .DISCUSSION... Another mild and breezy day continues with many areas observing temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. This combined with relative humidity (RH) values in the 25-35 percent range and breezy northwesterly winds with gusts between 20-30 mph have led to locally elevated fire danger this afternoon. While these conditions will likely persist through the early evening, any resulting fire danger will likely stay in the low to moderate ranges mainly due to greening fuels and slight cooler temperatures. Looking ahead, the drier conditions will persist well into the weekend with RH values mainly between 20-30 percent range. However, a brief break from the breezier conditions on Wednesday and Thursday will keep any fire danger at bay temporarily. Periodic breeziness will then return from Friday onwards which will result in more elevated concerns over the weekend.
