.DISCUSSION...



Southerly wind gusts will range from 25 to 35 mph for much of the 

region today. Lowest humidity is forecast across central South 

Dakota, with readings from around 45 to 50 percent. Higher readings 

above 50 or even 60 percent will be found further east over 

northeast South Dakota.



Southerly winds will be even a bit stronger on Sunday, with gusts 

generally from 35 to 45 mph. Although, humidity is forecast to 

remain fairly high, with readings mostly above 50 percent across 

much of the forecast area.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...



Unfavorable weather conditions and low moisture content of grasses,

and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there

is high potential for a fire to spread.  Outdoor burning should be

restricted to early morning or evening hours when wind speeds are

usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.





The outlook for Sunday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index

will reach the high category.

and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is

some potential for a fire to spread.  Any outdoor burning should be

closely monitored.

will reach the moderate to high category.

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,

and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the

probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under

these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety

precautions, but should be monitored.





The outlook for Sunday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index

will reach the moderate to high category.
