FNUS28 KWNS 242138 FWDD38 Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0436 PM CDT Fri Oct 24 2025 Valid 261200Z - 011200Z An mid-level shortwave trough will move eastward and weaken over the Southeast through Day 5/Tuesday while upper-level troughing is likely to remain over the Northeast. A strong upper-level trough will move over the West this weekend, with shortwave ridging likely following it through mid-next week. The upper-level trough is forecast to move into the Southeast mid-next week and potentially combine with the upper-level trough over the Northeast mid to late next week along the East Coast. ...Day 3/Sunday - Day 5/Tuesday... Dry/breezy post-frontal conditions are likely on portions of the southern/central Plains Day 4/Monday - Day 5/Tuesday. However, given recent and expected rainfall, fuels are unlikely to be receptive enough to ignition and spread even under elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions to warrant probabilities. Rainfall will spread eastward from the southern Plains through much of the Southeast this weekend through into mid-next week. Widespread wetting rain is likely although portions of Florida are likely to miss out. ...Day 5/Tuesday - Day 7/Thursday... Offshore, downslope winds are expected for southern California beginning Day 5/Tuesday and continuing into Day 7/Thursday as surface high pressure in the Intermountain West strengthens the pressure gradient across southern California. While elevated/locally critical winds/RH are expected, marginal fuel dryness will help mitigate fire weather concerns, thus, precluding probabilities. ..Nauslar.. 10/24/2025 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov/fire for graphic product... $$
