Breezy east-southeast winds of 10-15 mph ahead of an approaching surface cyclone and amid a residual dry air mass will likely lead to elevated fire weather conditions. Additionally, forecast ERC/BIs are above average, including pockets of near record values, and this area has had below normal rainfall dating back before the beginning of September. For Saturday, the upper trough will continue eastward along the Gulf Coast and Southeast. Precipitation associated with this feature will spread eastward into the lower Mississippi Valley region. Similar to Friday, dry winds around the surface high may be enough to promote locally elevated fire weather in parts of Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Fuels are at least modestly dry in these areas.
