A dry thunderstorm or two are possible in portions of the Colorado

Rockies, mostly along/just east of the Divide, but the limited

thunderstorm chances/coverage, especially coincident with receptive

fuels, preclude an IsoDryT area. Otherwise, the forecast remains on

...Synopsis...

An upper trough will expand across the northern Plains and Upper

Midwest with strong westerly flow overspreading southeastern Idaho

into the Dakotas. Meanwhile, a weak upper low will separate from a

departing eastern CONUS trough, providing enough forcing for

afternoon thunderstorms across the Southeast. 



A weak surface low will emerge across the Four Corners region,

tightening a surface pressure gradient along the West Slope; as a

result, gusty winds are expected across portions of the Great Basin

and Colorado Plateau this afternoon. Strong daytime mixing will

result in RH values of 5-15% and sustained westerly winds of 12-20

mph (gusts up to 30 mph) amid receptive fuels, maintaining Elevated

fire weather highlights. Farther west, hot, dry, and unstable

conditions are expected along/near a thermal trough extending out of

northern California into western Oregon/Washington. Lighter winds

across the spatial region preclude an introduction of fire weather

highlights; however, gusty winds in terrain-favored areas could

result in locally elevated conditions.
