Yesterday, Monday the 3rd, the weather station along the Haines Highway (HHKA2) reported temps reaching the low 70s, RH at an impressive 34 percent for rainforest standards, and max wind gusts of 19 mph. Winds were likely upslope and stronger along the upper ridges of Mount Cheetdeekahyu and funneling up Little Boulder Creek and the prominent SE ridge. For Tuesday afternoon, conditions along the upper Chilkat Valley remain warm/dry with daily sea breezes likely pushing up the valley. Simply put, a little warmer and drier than what we saw Monday with gusty winds in the afternoon. The fire is in a prime spot to receive excellent solar heating, helping to further lower RH and dry fine fuels. This pattern will remain prevalent over the next several days, with morning low marine layer clouds, clearing through the afternoon, and terrain driven afternoon sea breezes. .REST OF TODAY...
