TORNADO. RISK...Nil. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. RISK...Limited. AREA...Southeast Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing Through Sunset. DISCUSSION... Isolated thunderstorm development is forecast through sunset across southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas. A limited potential of a strong to severe storm for strong wind gusts exists with any development. This activity should weaken and dissipate this evening with the loss of daytime heating. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday. SUNDAY...Severe Thunderstorm Potential...High Wind Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential...Heavy Rain Potential. MONDAY...Severe Thunderstorm Potential...Heavy Rain Potential. TUESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Heavy Rain Potential. THURSDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. FRIDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Heavy Rain Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... A storm complex is expected to move across Kansas overnight tonight with the southern portion of the complex potentially reaching into northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas early Sunday morning. Additional storm chances set up Sunday afternoon along a remnant outflow boundary from the storm complex for northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. A limited severe potential and a locally heavy rain threat exist Sunday afternoon. The greater storm chances develop Sunday evening with a cold front moving into northeast Oklahoma, and then spreading southeast through the region Sunday night and Monday as a storm complex. Limited severe risk and a heavy rain threat which could lead to flooding concerns persists into Monday. The frontal boundary holds over and near eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through much of the week while a couple disturbances move across the region. This creates additional daily storm chances through the week ahead. Dangerous heat will likely develop across much of eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas on Sunday, as high temperatures in the 90s and high humidity combine to produce afternoon heat indices from 100 to 108 degrees. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information. $$
