...River Statement For The Black Warrior River...



.Heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours is producing rises on the

Black Warrior River. However, levels are expected to remain below

established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be

of minor nature.





The Black Warrior River at Bankhead Lock and Dam.

* At 8:30 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 186.6 feet.

* Action stage is 188.0 feet.

* Flood stage is 189.0 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 188.3 feet

  early tomorrow afternoon.

* Impact...At 189.0 feet... Flooding of farm land and low-lying wood

  lands in the area occurs.





The Mulberry Fork at Cordova.

* At 8:15 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 18.0 feet.

* Action stage is 18.0 feet.

* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.0 feet

  tomorrow morning.

* Impact...At 20.0 feet...Some minor overflow in the area may

  occur...especially in low lying areas downstream of the railroad

  bridge at Cordova. Water begins to overflow the river bank of the

  BAE facility just downstream of Cordova. Portions of Gross Camp and

  Bagget Camp in the Copeland Ferry and Underwood Ferry areas are

  flooded.





Another statement will be issued by Monday evening, or sooner if

conditions warrant.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has

already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next

48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may

become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
