Record to near record warmth for March standards encompassed

Kansas, with late afternoon temperatures well into the 90s for

many locations, which is over 30 degrees above average. The hot,

dry, and breezy weather supported elevated grassfire danger 

across the region.



Rather mild weather will prevail tonight, with forecast low

temperatures in the 50s and 60s, although a strong cold front

approaching from the north will drop temperatures into the 40s

over northwest Kansas.



The strong cold front will continue to blast south through the 

region Sunday, with strong and gusty north winds in its wake,

gusting up to 45 mph at times. Temperatures will be cooler Sunday,

but still above average for this time of year, with forecast highs

in the 60s and 70s, with warmer 80s over far southeast Kansas. The

strong winds will support elevated grassfire danger once again

Sunday.
