This area of low pressure will move slowly east today, leaving the northwestern half of the state mainly cloudy but dry later this morning and this afternoon, while some light rain or drizzle lingers into this afternoon across the mid and lower Susquehanna Valley west to the Laurel Highlands. High temperatures today will be mainly in the mid to upper 40s, but could touch 50 over parts of the Lower Susquehanna Valley. The slow upward climb in temps elsewhere could be halted at 39 or 40F over the highest terrain of the North and West. A strong cold front will push Southeast through the Western third of the State during the early to mid evening hours, bringing scattered rain and snow showers. The precipitation will change to snow showers as temperatures plummet to morning lows Tuesday between 20 and 30 degrees respectively from the Northwest Mountains to the Lower Susquehanna Valley. Northwest winds will gust between 20 to 30 mph on Tuesday with RH values dropping into the upper 20s to lower 30s. Temperatures will moderate a bit through the middle and latter part of the week with lighter winds before another storm system brings periods of rain some higher elevation wet snow Wednesday night through Friday. Farmers with temperature sensitive crops should take note that temperatures will drop low enough to make frost and freeze conditions likely tonight and Tuesday night. $$
