A few brief showers may roam across Central and Western PA. Highs this afternoon will range from the 60s across the higher terrain of the North and West to the low and mid 70s in the Southern Valleys. Southwest winds will gust into the 20s (mph) today. Clouds will increase tonight with isolated to scattered showers and possibly a few thunderstorms streaming east-northeast over the Commonwealth. The clouds and likely southwesterly breeze will result in a mild night with lows varying from the upper 40s to low 50s over the Northern Mountains and Pocono Northeast to the mid and upper 50s across much of Southern and Western Pennsylvania. The warming trend peaks on Tuesday with highs in the upper 60s over the Northwest Mountains, to between 80 and 85 degrees near and to the south of the I-81/I-78 corridor. Southwest winds will gust into the 30 to 35 mph range during the late morning and afternoon hours. The chance for rain will be increasing Tuesday afternoon, especially over Northwestern PA. The main chance for more widespread rain will reside during the Tuesday night through Thursday period ahead of a slow moving cold front. Much cooler conditions will follow the passage of a cold front for later Wednesday night through Friday with scattered rain showers, mixing with snow at times across the Northern and Western Mountains. $$
